As many of you know, we perform a “volunteer swap” with other elementary schools for executing critical tasks during our Auction events. These are tasks like check-in, check-out, data entry, etc. Schools don’t recruit volunteers from within our own communities for this work, since that would keep the volunteers from enjoying their own Auctions… so we send them our people, and they send us theirs.
Working other schools’ auctions is actually a lot of fun: it’s always festive, they usually make sure we’re fed, and we get great ideas for Auction donations, themes, parties, and more. There are two events coming up in November for which volunteers are needed from Crocker:
Hillcrest School Auction – “Back to the ‘80s” – Saturday, November 2, 2013
at the Claremont Hotel, 41 Tunnel Road, Oakland, CA
Joaquin Miller Elementary School Auction – “Casino Monte Carlo” – Saturday, November 16th, 2013
at the Scottish Rite Center, 1547 Lakeside Drive, Oakland, CA
Please sign up if you can! It’s very important that we hold up our end of this fine, volunteer-swapping tradition.
Send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you can help out on either or both of these dates. Volunteer shifts are roughly three hours, and can be early or later in the evening, so let us know if you have a preference. We will fill you in on further details of time/place/parking once we get them. We very much appreciate your help with this, as do both Hillcrest and Joaquin Miller!
Yours in cooperative volunteerism,
Jennifer Black and Erika Vexler, 2014 Crocker Auction Co-Chairs
